Mi Sueno

Mi Sueno is Spanish for "My Dream".

At the 2006 California Cabernet Society tasting my partner Vita (Italian for Life) and I John… (American for restroom) thought we were dreaming when we tasted the incredible 2005 barrel sample from this small Napa Valley winery.

The guy who owns Mi Sueño is Rolando Herrera (yup – the same guy who was director of winemaking at Paul Hobbs) so we figured he must be multi-talented… not just awesome Cab, but probably any variety he touches.

Mi Sueño

2005 El Llano, Napa Valley Red

A combo of 20% Syrah and 80% Cab in an aromatic blend that you can smell from 20 feet away as soon as you pour it (I used to have an aunt – my mom’s sister – you could smell her perfume from a block away when the wind was right – well; when I was a little kid, my aunt and my mom and I rode the elevator to the 14th floor of the ‘Medical Arts Building’ downtown Omaha.

I have this dread of elevators, a deep-seated fear of perfumes…
But I digress…
This red blend is 14.5% of really good s***.
