Phase 1- Pre transplant testing
Week 1-2 pre transplant testing- MRI, CT Scans, blood work, pulmonary function tests, etc.
Week 2 (Friday) admitted to the hospital overnight for chemotherapy, Discharged the next day after fluid hydrations
Phase 11- Mobilization
Week 3- outpatient. Give myself shots to grow stem cells, labs checked almost every day.
Phase lll-Harvest
Week 4- collects your stem cells through process called aphaeresis. This is usually done on Tuesday, Wednesday, When done, go home.
Week 5- REST (YEAH) but not really, just a rest from test/procedures
Phase lV- conditioning/transplant!!
Week 6- Thursday admitted to the hospital for your transplant. The first of six days you will be getting IV fluids, four days of chemo, if all goes well
Week 7- 8 receive stem cells-similar to blood transfusions
Week 8-12 etc. stay in hospital to wait for stem cells to grow
Recovering
Week 12-16 (Hopefully outpatient care). Daily tests so must travel back and forth from hospital to apartment
